Education at the School

Our classes are held daily from Mon - Fri. Our terms run quarterly. At the end of the term, we typically take a week off and then begin the next term. Each term the classes and faculty change to give the students more robust options and well-rounded education.

Classes at the school are social classes such as art, music, dance, etc. In this style of class, student interaction is more the focus than just sitting there listening to a teacher.

“Roleplay” is also important. This means the class could be disrupted by unplanned events such as fires, ants, or some other story-altering events.

Disruptions in class are good if it involves everyone. A pupil that disrupts the class to only focus attention on themselves is good for the short term but gets tiring if it drags on.

Guests and family are invited to attend any class we hold. We do ask that they be respectful and not disrupt our order or flow.

SCCBS Discord

The school has its own discord server which we use for:

•        Information
•        Fun! Sharing photos and laughs

•        Discussions about the school

•        Notes from Classes

Once you are a member of the school, you will be invited

to join the server. Participation is not required on Discord but

highly encouraged.

Schedule at SCCBS

The activities at the school are between 12:30 pm and 3 pm. We would like to be active more, but the time zones of our staff and pupils prevent this.

So here is a typical schedule at the school...(all times are in SL time)

12:30 pm: Some Pupils and staff meet and hang around the school. This is a social time where anything can happen.

1:00 pm: Prayer Service in the chapel

1:15 pm: Inspection and class

1:45 pm: Classes begin

2:15 pm: Soup and socialization time

Different Activities at SCBBS

•        Classes: Classes are usually 30 mins.

•        Field Trips: Once in a while we go on field trips. Uniforms must be worn and pupils and staff are expected to be on their best behavior. The field trips cannot be to adult sims.

School Parties and Events: From time to time and often on holidays, the school will hold events on or off-campus. Miss Sarah will announce whether or not uniforms must be worn based on the event.

•        Inspections: The inspections are done after prayers. Pupils line up outside the school and the teacher usually leads the inspection. A part of inspection is to make sure pupils have the proper attire on with the proper tags. Sometimes information is given during these inspections and other times pupils can be questioned on their mannerisms or such. Once in a while, dorm inspections are held.

•        Choir: The choir is a popular extracurricular activity for students. Our choir performs all over the grid and is building in popularity. Since February 2017, the choir has become the goodwill ambassador of St. Columba and has spread the message of peace and joy through musical entertainment.
We have performed over 250 shows across the grid.

•        Soup: Pupils need something to eat. We are proud to give them some soup. SCCBS soup is legendary because of a secret recipe created by Miss Lucie so many years ago. Other foods may be served in special occasions, but soup is our faithful daily meal.

•        Term Break: There is a week between terms.

•        Summer Break: When the spring term ends (usually around the end of June), the school takes a summer break. While students still gather daily for prayers, companionship, and dinner, classes will NOT be held until the middle or end of August.
•        Summer Camp: Located across the street from our campus lies Camp Columba. This property is used for our summer camp that usually runs sometime in mid-July. Tug-o-War, fireside stories, and outdoor fun make summer camp one of the most anticipated times of year.
•        December: December represents an entire month of fun Christmas related activities. The most important time in our calendar year.

•        Who knows?: One of the traditions at the school was spontaneity. This can be an rp started from a pupil, a teacher, or a guest. We find it important and fun never to be so stiff that we do not allow an RP story arc to develop.
